Hot off the heels of their Petrol & Pints Tour across the United Kingdom, American heavy rockers Carbellion are back with a new music video for their crowd favorite “Spaces“. The video contains highlights from their recent UK tour and stops along the way.
This is the fourth music video taken from their EP album Weapons of Choice which was released last year via Eclipse Records.
The album was produced by Carbellion and Chris Djuricic (Nonpoint, Soil) at Belle City Sound, and mastered by Andy VanDette (Beastie Boys, Porcupine Tree, Rush) at Evolve Mastering. The music video for “Spaces” was directed by Chad Hanstedt.
“We chose Spaces as the final video from the Weapons of Choice LP because we believed the lyrics for the song tied nicely into the experience we had with our first international tour on 2024’s Petrol & Pints UK Tour” says vocalist Cameron Kellenberger.
Our friend and videographer, Chad Hanstedt, was on tour with us to capture all of the moments on and off the stage which worked out really well. We drove a bit over 1.6k miles for the 8 shows in 10 days from the bottom of England’s South coast to the Scottish Lowlands and back.
Two killer festivals anchored the weekends with Loverocks Festival near Bournemouth, EN the first Friday and Wildfire Festival in Wanlockhead, SC the second.
In between we played historic venues such as Cart & Horses in London, EN (the birthplace of Iron Maiden), Bannermans in Edinburgh, SC, and the Carlisle in Hastings, EN. Live rock music strongholds like Bear’s Bar in Bournemouth, EN, Trillians in Newcastle, EN, and Grumpy Bastard’s Motorcycles in Stoke-on-Trent, EN (hotrods, motorcycles, and rock n’ roll nostalgia adorn this hidden gem) rounded out the tour. We met so many great people from the UK that welcomed us including the promoters, clubs/venues, other bands, and most of all the fans.
The whole thing was a lightning in bottle captured experience that won’t be our last across the pond. We hope this video gives you a taste of what it was like for us there and that you can also appreciate the spaces in between!”
Weapons of Choice is the band’s third full-length album pulls from nearly twenty years of experience and lessons learned by fire to deliver the group’s most compelling release to date.
The ten-song collection brings together the band’s strongest and most cohesive material, though its inception was rather unusual. Lyrically, the album finds Carbellion working to engage its audience. “I want to make people think,” Kellenberger states.
We’ve never been great at writing straightforward songs. Translating the thoughts and ideas in my head is a complicated process, but an exciting one.
These songs are definitely fun and we write them with the intention of making people have a good time, especially with the live show, but this record more than any other also aims to make people think. Don’t take everything at face value. Nothing in this life is black and white.
The truth is almost always somewhere in the middle.” “We started the record before COVID,” says Kellenberger. “The pandemic made us stop temporarily, but we found a way to work together digitally during that time.
That allowed us to write the record, which we took to the studio as material was finished, so some songs were recorded two years before others, but it was a constant creation process“. Carbellion is taking stock of its place in the rock ecosystem.
After nearly two decades and half a dozen releases, the Wisconsin bad boys feel they are just now hitting their stride.
