Having released their last studio album in 2016, the Cork/Tipperary blues rockers mark a defining comeback with their forthcoming album, recorded at GAF Studios in Co. Tipperary and produced by the masterful Philip Magee (Aslan, Kodaline, The Script, The Academic).
A powerful new chapter in Crow Black Chicken’s gritty legacy, their sound – like a barrel-aged whiskey – continues to absorb depth and bite without ever having lost its soul. “Bottom Feeders”, the first single from the long-awaited LP, proved a signature hard-rocking track, setting the stage for an unequivocal blues rock album, true to their essence and rooted in classic touchstones of the genre.
Second single, “Make it Right”, showcases the broader range of influences within the album; hints of Americana that groove with foot-stomping drums, the smoothest of bass lines and luscious guitar tones.
The album’s focus track, “Hot Molasses” encompasses everything Crow Black Chicken has become – a band renowned for their raw, powerhouse sound fronted by the gravelly, earthful croon of vocalist Christy O’Hanlon, locked in with the groove of bassist Stephen McGrath and drummer Gev Barrett.
Their first studio release since 2016’s ‘Pariah Brothers’, the band said of the upcoming album: “‘Ghost Dance’ is a really special album to us. It marks almost ten years from our last release – a decade spent rethinking, evolving, and focusing on the live end of things. It’s been a long road, but getting back into the studio and having the chance to work with Philip Magee again – who we worked with for our debut album – has all made it feel like the right time, almost full circle. We’re proud.”

Formed in the deep south of Ireland, Crow Black Chicken (CBC) are a power trio that blend the soulful grit of blues-rock with the weight of hard rock influences – a hybrid of Gov’t Mule, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Led Zeppelin. Since forming in 2009, the band has played BBC Introducing at Glastonbury (2011), performed to packed audiences across Europe, dropped three studio albums, two live albums, and had the honor of supporting the legendary ZZ Top in Cork in 2016.
The band released their debut album in 2012, produced by Philip Magee (Kodaline, Aslan, The Blizzards), which served a powerful first impression to the ground-shaking trio. Their second album, ‘Rumble Shake’ solidified their name in Ireland’s humble but mighty blues history book, debuting at Number 12 in the Irish Album Charts. Recorded in the famous Westland Studios Dublin, the album was a compelling roots and blues affair, heavily influenced by the bands work with Texan Americana singer Ray Wylie Hubbard and legendary Austin
Producer the late George Reiff.
2015 saw the release of the band’s first live album, ‘Deep South’, which was noted amongst the Top 5 Live Albums of the year by Classic Rock Blues. One year later, a support slot at the Marquee in County Cork brought them face to face with Texan compatriots ZZ Top, whom they often drew so many comparisons to.
Determined to hone their unique brand of blues rock, Crow Black Chicken continued to tour across Europe, releasing third studio album ‘Pariah Brothers’, winning top band at Skegness Rock and Blues Festival and headlining HRH Blues in the years that followed.
Crow Black Chicken return in 2025 with their highly anticipated fourth studio album “Ghost Dance”, and tease a fifth already in the pipeline.
