Ask anyone and you’ll get the same response, Birmingham and the Midlands is THE home of Heavy Metal. No place on earth can genuinely challenge three of the biggest and most important names in rock history in Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Judas Priest and with Slade, ELO and many others coming from the area, there’s more history than anywhere else on Earth.
It’s a high watermark and one that Vanitas are very much aware of but instead of being overawed by such legendary company, the band have distilled all that’s great in their heritage and given it their own, very modern spin.
Crushing riffs, pummelling rhythms and vocals that switch from guttural to skyscraping, the quintet are one of metal’s brightest and boldest hopes for the future.
Hugely ambitious in their vision, laser focussed in intent and ready to take on the world, there’s something unstoppable here and Metal Planet Music chatted with the outfit to discuss their plans for spreading their brand of sonic attack throughout the UK and beyond.
