Interview by Paul Monkhouse for MPM

It’s been a long day already but Blaze Bailey is nothing but his usual irrepressible self. He has good reason to be in such a buoyant mood, the release of the marvelous retooled and re-recorded version of Wolfbane’s rambunctious debut ‘Live Fast, Die Faster ‘ renamed ‘Live Faster’ sounding razor sharp and the band in full swing of rehearsing for some of their legendary shows giving rise to a mix of pride and adrenaline.

It’s not all rock ‘n’ roll though, “I was cleaning the sink earlier and I was thinking about my choice of music while doing that.

I always have to have music on. It was either going to be Beethoven’s Fifth or ‘Reign In Blood’ by Slayer” he says with a grin.

The mystery remains as to which he chose but what can’t be in any doubt is his passion and unbridled enthusiasm for the band he made his name in and the rapturous reception they’ve received since reforming.

Always one of the most loved of bands, Wolfsbane distilled all that was great about no-bullshit, loud and wild rock music, their rough edges and upbringing in Tamworth making them stand out in a sea of hair metal bands in the same way that Motörhead shook things up when Prog and Stadium rock acts bestrode the world.

One of the warmest and most approachable figures on the scene, what you see is what you get with Blaze and whether he’s talking about the new album, playing with his old friends or getting ready to do live shows, you never get less than 110%.
