UK metal band, Cage Fight – Rachel Aspe (vocals), James Monteith (guitar), Nick Plews (drums) and Will Horsman (bass) – have released new single, ‘PIG.’

Watch/ Listen here

On ‘Pig’, Rachel calls out the creepy men who send women unsolicited messages online. The video includes real messages sent directly to Rachel and to other women that volunteered the inclusion of their experiences.

Vocalist Rachel Aspe commented:

“PIG is the expression of my disgust of men sending unsolicited intimate pictures, messages, crossing boundaries and harassing women digitally. I’ve had hundreds over the years, and it’s crazy to think that everyday women regularly get these messages. I just wanted to scream my hatred to them, raise awareness of the issue and show solidarity to other women who experience this abuse.”

The video clip can be viewed below.

And the depth and breadth of the issue is harrowing; latest polling from Amnesty International uncovers the shocking forms of online harassment faced by Gen Z women, including:

• More than half (53%) receiving inappropriate emojis (e.g., 🍆💦) on their posts and photos

• 44% receiving unsolicited explicit images

• 43% being body-shamed

• 40% subjected to unwanted sexually suggestive comments

• 32% experiencing hate speech

• 27% reporting online stalking

Source/ further information can be found HERE.

For help with digital sexual harassment, people should contact Victim Support (0808 16 89 111), the CEOP Safety Centre (to report abuse and get advice), Childline (0800 1111) for under-18s, or the police if there is immediate danger (call 999). They can also report directly to the social media platform or use the Report Harmful Content service to report abuse across different platforms.

Since their inception Cage Fight have become known for their visceral, high energy live performances, and already they’ve toured with bands like Sepultura and Cromags,

supported the likes of Napalm Death and Employed To Serve, and played numerous festivals including Summer Breeze and Bloodstock. Next, the band head out on tour with Svalbard; the 5-date UK November run marks the final ever shows for Svalbard.
