As 2025 draws to a close, CELESTE celebrate two decades of existence with the reissue of their now 15 year old landmark album ‘Morte(s) Née(s)’.
Originally released in 2010, this pivotal work is widely regarded as one of the band’s defining statements. For this special anniversary edition, ‘Morte(s) Née(s)’ has been remixed by Chris Edrich and remastered by Pierrick Noël, bringing a renewed depth and clarity to one of CELESTE’s darkest and most influential records.
Pre-order bundles available now.

A bridge between their raw beginnings and their modern sophistication, this reissue stands as both a tribute to their legacy and a reminder that CELESTE’s intensity remains timeless.
Two decades in, CELESTE remain a band in constant transformation — heavier, deeper, and more human than ever. Their music is still a storm of violence and beauty, built not to please but to confront.
There are no compromises, no formulas — only evolution through extremity.
Emerging from Lyon’s celebrated hardcore punk scene, CELESTE have forged a sound that blends the intensity of black metal, sludge, and post-hardcore into something utterly singular — dark, suffocating, and emotionally charged. From their earliest shows, CELESTE made it clear: brutality could also be art.
Each record since their 2006 debut ‘Pessimiste(s)’ has marked another step in that evolution. The group’s stark visual aesthetic — defined by its monochrome imagery and live performances cloaked in red light and fog — became as iconic as their sound. Over the years, their music grew darker, denser, and more atmospheric, culminating in ‘Infidèle(s)’ (2017), their most melodic and focused release to that point. It earned them widespread acclaim and led to their signing with Nuclear Blast Records, paving the way for a new era.
Released in 2022, the band’s latest album ‘Assassine(s)’ represented a bold reinvention. While retaining CELESTE’s signature wall of guitars and relentless rhythmic assault, it embraced modern production, broader dynamics, and a deeper emotional core. Written during lockdown, the album forced the band to completely rethink their creative process — working in isolation, exchanging ideas remotely, and confronting their own instincts without compromise.
Produced by Chris Edrich (Gojira, The Ocean, Leprous), ‘Assassine(s)’ demanded precision and endurance. What was initially planned as a two-week session stretched into nearly a month of intense, day-and-night work. “It was exhausting — physically and mentally,” says vocalist/bassist Johan Girardeau. “But that’s also why the record feels so sharp and deliberate. We learned to strip away everything unnecessary and focus on the essence.” The result was CELESTE’s most expansive and emotionally layered album to date — one that pushed beyond their established darkness into new, cinematic territory.
Following the success of ‘Assassine(s)’, the band released ‘Epilogue(s)’ in 2023, a companion EP that expanded on the record’s atmosphere and narrative weight. By then, CELESTE had already performed more than 600 shows worldwide, appearing at renowned festivals such as Hellfest, Wacken, Copenhell, Roadburn, Summer Breeze, Desertfest, Psycho Las Vegas, Damnation, Brutal Assault, Inferno, Roskilde, and many more — proving time and again that few live acts can match their visceral intensity.
Celebrate 20 years of CELESTE and 15 years of ‘Morte(s) Née(s)’ this December.
