Review by Richard Henry for MPM
Well sure what else would you be doing on a Monday night, up to the city for a Deathcore double bill, haven’t seen Bodysnatcher before but Ingested I saw supporting Lorna Shore in this very building, with new singer in tow they are up first!
Ingested
Nefarious Tongues
Thunder intro over the Pa, and the band comes onto the stage, this one was released as a single last year and comes in with a big chugger of a Riff hits right away, good sound right from the off, serious double bass chops to out there and then the middle drop just slams as a proper nasty riff hits in, half decent crowd in here on a Monday night, loving the double vocals as well really hitting home on this one then it gets slow and slow and absolutely slams!

Altar of Flesh
Another intro hits, we are sticking with the new songs as this was another one released last year, as this one gets introduced, a lovely slow riff comes in with the Gojira style pick scraps as well, that’s a ln absolutely slamming riff and then a few drum fills and we are into the unrelenting blast beats, but that grinding double bass section next is brutal, love the tempo changes on this one just d beat to double bass and back again, bit of action happening in the pit as well, lovely solo comes up and then it’s into the breakdown section as everything slows right down with Sean adding the vocals to this part, absolutely brutal!
Merciless Reflection
This is the first track we are hearing from the new album that is due out on the 8th of May. That is a disgusting riff right there and that slow beat off the China just rips, we require a bit of action in the pit seems to be the call for this one, again lovely use of the tempo just grinding along with a real slow double bass groove before we get a break and then bang, the blast beats start to come in before a real almost hardcore section comes in, cracking tune!

Watch You Fold
Another track from the new album, this one has John from Dying Fetus on it on the album version. Straight in with the blast beats and then just a brutal slam section, before we hit the blasts and alternate tempos, that drummer is putting in a shift behind the kit, that’s for sure, that next riff though switching between double kicks and half time breakdowns with Sean adding in the backing vocals, then a really deliberate slow riff comes in and it slows down again and gets brutally heavy, again the sound man has earned his pay tonight and the sound is crystal clear, the drums really cutting though, nice melody section coming in from Sean under the main riff is a nice break from the chugging before the tempo ramps up again!
Pantheon
From 2024s “The Tide of Death and Fractured Dreams” album. That is disgusting, thundering double bass drops into a bomb blast, then a slow grindy riff kicks in next, before a driving double bass groove with the double vocals, much more groove in this song, Adam is absolutely killing up there on the vocals, with an added hand in there from Sean on this one, love the feel of this song, then we hit the middle and that stop start riff happens you know the slam part is upon you, lots of heads moving in the pit to the right of me, Lynn behind the kit is just a machine and unlike a lot of fast drummers he doesn’t just tap, he is proper hitting that kit!

Technical difficulties next with Sean’s pedal board, someone decided to throw a cup of water onto the stage and soaked it, so that’s a £1500 Quad Cortex down the drain, so we are now playing as a 4 piece
Better off Dead
Let’s get this circle pit moving is the shout, this one from 2018s “Level Above Human” album, then boom, we are in with a slow double bass groove before a real trem picked riff comes in and the drum fills start and we are right into the blast beats, nice double vocals again in this one, still feels a bit subdued in the crowd at the min, you can and we are back with the two guitars and immediately the sound fills back out again, these things happen, love the stop start tempo shifts on this one, then a atmospheric dissonant chord section comes in as we hit a slow double bass section, almost like a Gojira groove comes in on that next part, then it slows way way down and the reverb comes into the snare hits in proper deathcore style!

Impending Dominance
From 2020s “Where Only Gods May Tread” album.
Another intro comes over the PA, stabs of the riffs come into with the drums before we get absolutely slapped with the blast beats, ok, the pit has awoken and there are people flying about before it slow right down, again drummer Lynn deserves a man of the match award back there, tempos continually switching back and forth, there we go just heard the bass drop and the snare reverb, that’s how you know you are at a deathcore show!
Invidious
Acoustic guitar greets us next, this track is from 2018s “Level Above Human” album, with Sean taking the vocal along the drum stabs with the guitar, absolutely flying double kicks interspersed with blast beats, absolutely slams that section, before an odd time riff comes flying at us, again areal groove part and loads of heads moving in motion to this, the vocal is superb from Adam, really commanding up there and definitely a huge presence, he does however remind me of Tom Selleck, not a bad thing, just saying, place is absolutely rammed now and again great to see this size of a crowd out for these guys!

Cremated Existence
The last song of tonight so make it count Belfast, we are going way back to 2016s “ Surpassing the Boundaries of Human Suffering” album, slow and heavy as hell double bass groove and a real slam riff with the high vocals but you know it’s going to change up and after a quick drum fill the blast beats come right In, that was incredible and after seeing them the last time that was just as good and despite the last minute singer change that was a seriously good show from the guys, hopefully we will see them again in Belfast after that pedalboard incident!
Bodysnatcher
The Maker
Droning intro, then boom into the blast beats, straight into a bass drop part and a completely different feel, schizophrenic the way they are switching from the blasts into really slow and heavy beat down sections with driving double bass and Jesus when this one slows down it really slows down, massive amount of bass drops and nearly over used to be fair, loving the energy from the stage though, where is the mosh pit is the cry before that slow riff cracks in then boom on comes in and the pit opens right up, what an opener!

Wired for Destruction
Right in with a slow grinding double bass groove, loving the heavy ass breakdown that comes in next with an absolutely slamming riff and then the switch up in the drums and straight away these guys are 100% more about groove than all out speed and blast beats and it’s a really nice balance after the unrelenting nature of Ingested, that middle section where the China cymbal is just straight grooving is absolutely savage before we change again and the double bass comes in and then a really slow groove with a great big slab of a riff hits!
Behind the Crowd
This one totally feels like a hardcore song at the start with the Tom groove to hit it off and then a really groovy riff hits in next, love the break with the vocals between the drum hits before a half time groove kicks in and just sends the pit right into action, love how the groove just dominates this one, and when it slows down it really is like getting hit with a bag of rocks, savage riffing as well, love this one, that double bass section slaps before it slows right down again!

Black off my Eyes
Oh that is just a nasty riff and groove just hit right out of the park at the start of this one, before it picks up a bit and we start to see some bodies flying about in the pit in front of the band, love that bass and drum groove with the guitar just peppering before the groove slows right down and you get that reverb snare hit, great powerful vocals as well, and as I said with Ingested, the sound guy is absolutely on point, then we have a thrash and blast beat groove hit as we get asked to split the pit up, and Belfast obliged the request
Dead Rabbit
Another intro hits us, are we having fun and the crowd shouts back, and then bang into a mid tempo riff, absolute headbanger of a track, I just love that drummer, the guy hits hard and just propels the band, so so groove heavy, and another big bass drop hits in as the tempos start to grind downwards, then as soon as I said it the drum fills come in and we are switching from blasts to thrash beats and a healthy dose of double kick in there as well, that is a brutal guitar sound, oh when that slows down at the end it’s like being kicked by a donkey, absolutely brutal!

Infested
Some nice drum fills and cymbal work at the start of this before a break for the vocals before the slab of a riff comes in next, absolutely savage, it’s just a wall of sound and then it totally changes into a fast double bass section, love the tempo shifts and there is some lovely cymbal work going on there that could be easily missed just adding to the grooves, then it slows right down in the middle section, then it slows again and you can just feel the deep slow groove and the bass drops really help add to that as well, then circle pit time and back into the thrash tempo again
Blade Between the Teeth
Spoken vocal comes in at the start of this, before a brutal double kick groove comes slamming in, sure to get the folks in the pit moving, that next riff is absolutely disgusting, in a good way, before the tempo shifts again and again, constantly moving but everything is filled with groove and designed to get the pit moving about, think that is definitely the bands strong suit is making sure every tempo and every section just absolutely swings and gets the place moving, absolutely love the feel of all the songs so far despite not having heard these guys before tonight!

Take Me to Hell
Slow and slower is the start of this one, violent and full of intent and just an absolutely sledgehammer of a groove, even when it speeds up slightly it is just brutally heavy in feel, and as I say that the blast beats happen, then bang, the bass drop comes in and the whole thing just slows down to a grind again, beautifully brutal!
Violent Obsession
Lovely little double bass stabs to go along with that guitar riff before a deep and heavy riff comes in and it’s a slow groove, quick little drum fill and it changes to an almost hardcore feeling part, actually reminds me of Knucckledust before the blasts and double bass come riding in again, oh that bass drop just as everything else fell away was just lovely, again love the way they switch between grooves and feel on all these tracks, time to open up this put is the cry from the stage and yet again the crowd looks like they are enjoying themselves in there, they are going to be sore in the morning!!!

Murder 8
That’s a nasty riff to kick this one off and a lovely double bass groove that kicks in and then a sort of uptempo feel, but it’s when they hit that slower groove that this one opens up, and it’s like they heard me, blast beats and double bass ensues before we hit the halftime breakdown section, then a proper bouncy slamming riff hits next and the amount of switching about on the drums is ridiculous, great drum work back there, loving his playing tonight, although this is the song I can hear the amount of tracks going on as the one guitar player is playing clean parts while a heavy riff is going on in the background then it slows down even more into a proper breakdown section with bass drops all over the place
Twelve/Seventeen – Open Wounds
This is for the avid Bodysnatcher listener, heavy ass Tom groove comes in then a slow as hell absolutely stonking riff slaps in, that is heavy as hell, chaos has now ensued in the pit and fair play to them, then the bass drop comes in as a really slow bendy guitar riff hits us, loads of pinch harmonics in there before the next feel comes in and a bit of slow double bass hits in there as well, then the blasts come as the whole thing has picked up tempo, he wants more from the people in the pit, as the groove just comes in with a lovely start stop riff hitting!

King of the Rats
Slab of a riff comes right on, this is the last one of the night, that is slow slow groove there and the double kicks start flying in over the top before a bass and drum start coming in to kick this off before the tempo starts to ramp up into a more hardcore feel, again it’s just the groove it’s so addictive with these guys songs, last chance for a circle put as the blast beats start to hit in then a start stop guitar and drum riff, then the breakdown hits and the drops come in as well, you know what’s coming, absolute carnage is about to happen as a sledgehammer of a riff comes right in , and a slow ass groove that gets the pit opened right up, and it is all over! Great show from these guys!!
Seriously good night there both bands leaving it all on the stage, Ingested where savage, fast and brutal, with singer Adam from the band Deathstroke filling in impeccably tonight, and on the opposite side Bodysnatcher where slower and full of groove but equally as savage, I am definitely going back to check these guys out more, great night had, fantastic!!!
