Buzzed-about rock band RETURN TO DUST — Matty Bielawski (guitar, vocals), Graham Stanush (bass, vocals), Sebastian Gonzalez (guitar), and London Hudson (drums) — are ready to shake it… like a Polaroid picture.
Today, the band has shared its cover of OutKast‘s genre-smashing, 2003-released, Grammy-winning, and chart-topping mega hit ‘Hey Ya!‘, which was listed as #10 on Rolling Stone’s ‘Greatest Songs of All Time List’ (2021). RETURN TO DUST‘s cover features synth production from Puscifer‘s Mat Mitchell. Ultimately, they have taken an upbeat, feel good pop classic and given it an edgy, rock ‘n’ roll makeover, infusing the track with a darker, gloomier vibe — making it truly their own. Listen here.
“Our love for the ’90s and ’00s music goes further than just rock music, so we made our own heavy version of ‘Hey Ya!’ by OutKast,” the band says.
The release of the cover aligns with RETURN TO DUST‘s heavy tour schedule that kicks off tonight with a U.S. headline run, followed by eight dates supporting Yungblud before continuing into the UK and Europe, with a slew of summer festivals including Download Festival and a support slot on the Breaking Benjamin and Chevelle tour.

Overall, 2026 is shaking out (!!!) to be a killer year for RETURN TO DUST. They have led the rock revival, as their latest single ‘BORED’ ascended to the top of the Active Rock Radio charts, going straight onto Planet Rock Radio‘s A List and Kerrang! Radio‘s B List, as well as winning the iHeartRadio Music Awards ‘On The Verge’ award.

Every ending sparks a new beginning. RETURN TO DUST embody the sound of shedding the weight of the past while embracing the promise of tomorrow. The Los Angeles-based quartet brings a fresh perspective to alternative rock.
The band settled in Los Angeles to record standout single ‘Belly Up’, which rose through the Active Rock chart and was praised by Distorted Sound as “a grungy, punky thrill ride,” while Revolver applauded the group’s “Alice In Chains-inspired form of modern-day grunge.” 2024 saw RTD unveil their independent self-titled full-length debut with producer Jim Kaufman [Everclear, Night Riots, Helmet].
RETURN TO DUST signed to Lava Records/Republic Records and released their Speak Like The Dead EP in 2025, featuring the breakout single ‘Bored’, which climbed to #1 at Active Rock radio. They quickly became a must-see live act, igniting stages at major festivals including Inkcarceration, Welcome To Rockville, and Sonic Temple, and sharing bills with rock heavyweights Chevelle, Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin, and Billy Corgan.
RETURN TO DUST carried that momentum into 2026, earning an iHeartRadio Music Award nomination for Best New Rock Act, tour dates with Yungblud, and announcing their first European appearances at Rock am Ring, Rock im Park, Nova Rock, Download, Graspop, and Tuska Festival. With a rapidly growing global presence, the band is poised to stand at the forefront of the next generation of rock music.
