Interview by Paul Monkhouse for MPM

Pulverise don’t just make music, they live it. Every beat, every riff and every lyric seems to be drawn from their very blood, the quartets DNA the building blocks of all they do.

With a high octane mix of rock and rap, there’s a doubtless nostalgic throwback to the days when Living Colour, Fishbone and Rage Against The Machine burst onto the scene but this is all fueled by a thrilling modernity that looks forward rather than back. They’ve been quoted as sounding like Missy Elliot fronting Skindred but there’s even more to them then that and with live shows that grab even the most stubborn bar hanger away from their drink and into the moshpit, the effect is electrifying.

Anyone who witnessed them on their recent tour with Ward XVI or their numerous shows with the likes of Bloodywood will have witnessed something special, their high energy, high impact performances and humour marking them out as one of the best live bands in the country.

Whilst slo-mo walls of death and banter about the best type of tea to drink abounds, there’s a serious side to the quartet and lyrics speaking about both personal and global issues hit hard and true. With the ability to make everyone instantly feel like part of the family, Pulverise do just more than entertain, instead they form a connection that feels like it could last a lifetime. Metal Planet Music caught up with them to see what makes them tick, tick boom.
