Review by Paul Monkhouse for MPM
Things have been bubbling up for a while for Yorkshire quintet Catchfly, the whispers getting louder and louder.
Having already proven themselves as an electrifying live act, they’ve now launched debut single ‘Eve’ on the world and it fulfils all the promise they’ve held and more.
Lit up by the ethereal vocals of Saira Asteria, the number drips atmosphere as faint shadows float in the periphery but the darkness of the riffs that underpins it all has real bite.
The tale twists and turns, the story told from Eve’s side setting off the synapses like fireworks when the guitars really kick in and Asteria uses her guttural range to really punch home the feelings.
It’s a masterful display and one that’s so utterly compelling that it’ll stay with you for days, the song refusing to leave your head.
A powerful and highly impressive opening salvo from the band, this promises some truly great things to come and heralds Catchfly as one of THE bands to watch out for in 2026. Truly thrilling.
