Back to the Beginning was one of the greatest music events in living memory, with some of the biggest acts in the world coming together for Black Sabbath’s farewell concert. Along with attracting more than 40,000 people to Villa Park and raising over $44.53 million, it was also watched by millions of fans live online.
That ended up being the perfect send-off for Ozzy Osbourne, cementing his legacy as one of the most iconic figures of all time. Back to the Beginning will now surely inspire other legendary acts to follow in Black Sabbath’s footsteps and host their own farewell concerts.
Back to the Beginning Cemented Ozzy Osbourne’s Legacy
There’s no doubt that Black Sabbath are an iconic band, but it could be argued that they wouldn’t have been so notorious without Osbourne as the frontman. The Prince of Darkness became one of the most recognizable figures in music throughout the 1970s and 1980s and gained fame through his vocals and stage presence initially.
One thing that Osbourne did better than most other rockers was to expand into other areas beyond his music. For example, he became a pioneer of reality television when he starred in The Osbournes in the early 2000s. More recently, he ensured that he remains ever-present in modern industries, with the Ozzy Osbourne slot game among the top branded casino online titles. Which Other Acts Could Host Similar Farewell Concerts?
There are plenty of bands from the same era as Black Sabbath that are considered just as legendary as Osbourne’s old group. Many of them are still touring, but may be thinking about retiring soon, as they are way past retirement age.
AC/DC is one obvious candidate. The Australian outfit could think about doing one final show on home soil in an epic location such as the Accor Stadium in their hometown of Sydney. The band has been going in various forms since 1973, but Angus Young is 70 years old now and can’t run about the stage as easily as he used to.
Metallica is another contender that could potentially outdo Black Sabbath in terms of viewing figures for a farewell concert. The metal legends have done various special shows over the years and could decide to make the most of live streaming when they eventually bow out. James Hetfield is still in his early 60s, so it may be a long while before he decides to host a final appearance.
Back to the Beginning’s success won’t go unnoticed by other major rock bands, and others will surely want to replicate it. Various acts could soon decide to bow out similarly, and live-streaming it worldwide is the best option to ensure no fan is disappointed.
