Three-time GRAMMY-nominated band Spiritbox return today with their new single “Mourning,” out now via Pale Chord / Rise Records. The deeply affecting track marks the band’s first new music since their acclaimed sophomore album, Tsunami Sea, and offers the first glimpse into what comes next for Spiritbox.
Courtney LaPlante’s impassioned clean vocals cascade over the atmospheric production on “Mourning”, moving through delicate, restrained passages that gradually swell into heavier textures. Her performance remains at the center throughout, with layers of guitar, percussion and ambience building and receding around her as the track unfolds. It’s a more subdued side of Spiritbox, but one that still makes room for the heaviness and dynamic contrast at the core of the band’s sound.
Arriving alongside the single is a beautiful official music video co-directed by Alex Bemis and Spiritbox guitarist Mike Stringer. The visual signals a distinct evolution from the stark black-and-white aesthetic that defined the Tsunami Sea era, bringing the band into a vivid natural world. Performance-driven scenes place Spiritbox against a series of striking outdoor landscapes, including an ethereal, otherworldly honeycomb-like structure, while the recurring presence of a mysterious hooded figure adds an ominous undercurrent to the imagery.
“Mourning” follows Spiritbox’s acclaimed sophomore album, Tsunami Sea, released in March 2025. The album debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Hard Rock Albums chart and #26 on the Billboard 200, further solidifying the band’s standing as one of the most influential and forward-thinking forces in contemporary heavy music. The era also earned Spiritbox their third consecutive GRAMMY nomination for Best Metal Performance with “Soft Spine.”
Elsewhere, LaPlante recently teamed with Bring Me The Horizon’s Oli Sykes and producer Grabbitz for “If The Sun Burns Out Tonight,” the official anthem for the 2026 VALORANT Champions Tour, set for release September 16. At the end of August, she also announced her first signature vocal plugin with MixWave, a modular vocal suite developed around the tools and techniques behind her unmistakable sound.
Spiritbox recently wrapped a North American run supporting Evanescence and will return overseas this September for their Tsunami Sea UK & European Tour with Jinjer and Dying Wish. The run includes the band’s biggest UK headline shows yet, including London’s OVO Arena Wembley, before Spiritbox return stateside to perform with Metallica at Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut this November. They will close out the year in Australia with appearances at Good Things Festival in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
