Review by Paul Monkhouse for MPM

It seems, that there’s going to come a time when virtually every household in the country will have at least one Brave Rival album in their collection, the Hampshire quintet’s rise so assured.

The key to their ever-growing success a mix of killer hooks and unfiltered performances, all of that distilled perfectly here in this, their third single from their ‘Life’s Machine’ debut.

Kicking off with Ed Clarke’s febrile riffing and the strong but gorgeous vocals by Chloe Josephine and Lindsey Bonnick, the song is tough and gritty but manages to shoot it through with some beautifully sweet moments.

Don’t think they’ve gone soft though, the closing refrain of “You’re no good for me. You’re temporary” is a warning shot that Brave Rival aren’t messing around and are only going in one direct: upwards. Exciting, accessible, soulful and achingly cool, going in one direction upwards
