Review by Tammy Lomax for MPM
2022 has been an exciting year for the underground music scene, mono amounts of wonderfully crafted music has been released which has been inspired and created throughout the pandemic.
One of which is Brighton based new band, The Undaunted. They came together during those uncertain times and have released their first single, ‘Chihuahua’.
Alongside an excellent video, the industrial quartet are assuredly stamping the mark already within the scene. It is evident that huge amounts of work have been happening in the background as they are making all the right noises.
Ex members of Breed 77, Collisions and Munny Torx, The Undaunted are, Andrew Trewin on guitars and programming, Alex Marcou (Holotype) on synths and programming, Oc Preciado on vocals and Adam Lewis on drums.
They have created a totally unique modern sound, their sound signature is a combination of drum and bass, dubstep and punk metal so you can imagine the amount of flavouring these fellas have to offer.
‘Chihuahua’ is inspired by bullies and haters, people that have nothing good to say and are always waiting for you to fall so they can step over you.
A song dedicated to the losers whose sole life purpose is to make everyone else’s life miserable so they can feel somehow less insignificant.
Opening up with some get up and move your butt drum and bass, you become instantly impressed with the sound balance and structure.
It is not overbearing in the slightest. There are buckets full of synth elements that are projected with pure intensity and each section highlights a huge amount of versatility.
The delivery of the vocals is damn right nasty and are a perfect fit for the music. It is addictive and certainly catchy. The moment you listen to it will be buried within your brain, it is unforgettable.
The Undaunted are bringing something beautifully fresh, heavy and unique to the table. Go and give it a listen and don’t be a chihuahua.
