Review by Paul Monkhouse for MPM

The time is coming when Dea Matrona become a household name, their rise both inevitable and unstoppable.

This new single may just be the breakthrough into the mainstream that they deserve, the most commercial thing they’ve written so far but still very much carrying their trademark sound.

A vibrant slab of hook laden bluesy pop rock, ‘Red Button’ will seep into your brain, its tendrils digging deeper and deeper, until you find yourself unable to get anything but its melody and chorus out of your head.

With a touch of Gospel woven into its DNA, it revolves around the twin vocal magic of friends Mollie McGinn and Orlaith Forsythe and adds just the right amount of fire, grit and soul to lift it far beyond the anodyne.

A much heavier and bluesier proposition live, Dea Matrona have been able to capture some of their spark into this perfectly formed, under three-minute, cracker.

With the band constantly touring it’s a sure thing that you’ll be seeing a lot more of them. It’s time to push that red button.
