Review by Paul Monkhouse for MPM

As a tasty cut from their forthcoming album ‘The Band Rolls On’, ‘Lie to Me’ couldn’t be a better, loud and proud declaration that The Quireboys are here to stay and ready to let the music do the talking.

The first single to feature Guy Griffin on vocals, this is high class rock ‘n’ roll with verve and a dirty smile. The barrelling piano intro gives way to the riff and some lush female backing vocals and it’s straight into the chorus, Griffin’s voice with the right amount of rough edged charm and melody.

Coming on like The Faces and Rod the Mod’s fine early solo material, its big hook will have you singing and dancing from the off.

With some sterling fretwork, glistening keys and the whipcrack groove of the rhythm section, it’s party time and The Quireboys are the best band in town to provide the musical soundtrack. It’s time to celebrate.
