Prolific – ‘producing many works’. Just score out that definition and replace it with Robert Jon & The Wreck. In April this year the band produced what is a genuine contender not only for album of the year but one of the best live albums in recent musical history – Live At The Ancienne Belgique.

Not content with such a magical release the quintet hailing from Orange County, Southern California quickly released their seventh studio album Ride Into The Light to much acclaim just 7 weeks ago and then made another of their frequent trips over the pond to the UK to play an 11 date tour taking in venues as far afield  as Exeter in the south west to Glasgow in Scotland. Time for a rest now guys…. Maybe not!!!

The band (Robert Jon Burrison – lead vocals/guitar, Andrew Espantman – drums/backing vocals, Henry James Schneekluth – lead guitar/background vocals, Warren Murrel – bass and recent new recruit Jake Abernathie – keys) have released a brand new digital single via Joe Bonamassa’s Journeyman Records.

Produced by Kevin Shirley (Aerosmith, Black Crowes, Iron Maiden) STONE COLD KILLER is an apt title for such a high energy, fun filled rocker with an infectious chorus that instantly grabs you and demands you get up on your feet and party along with the tireless fivesome.

Andrew and Warren set a fast pace in the rhythm section from the off as we head straight into the infectious riffery of this latest quality tune from the band.

Robert’s wonderful vocal warns us there’s trouble ahead – ‘she’s a natural born beauty, with a deep low cut, poison in her fingers, with a violent strut’. Not to be messed with it seems, just like this band!! Henry James injecting brief guitar breaks between each line of the lyric.

The chorus grabs you like the killer at large. There’s no escaping, you WILL move and sing along with this irresistible tune and its shout out chorus. The rest of the band join in on backing vocals warning us of the STONE COLD KILLER. ‘She ain’t ever gonna get me’. She might never get you but this tune sure as hell will as the whole band rock out Jake playing a blinder on the keys before Henry James lets loose with an exceptional lead guitar break.

This track just like the band has got it all, crammed full of energy to the max. The band bill this as a mere ‘teaser’ for their forthcoming album due sometime next year. If this is a teaser then we best prepare ourselves – there’s an almighty storm brewing on the horizon when that album eventually drops.

Not content with producing such an incredible song ‘without too much fuss and pretty minimal adjustments’ the band have released a very entertaining and humorous Marco Pavone animated video to accompany this tune. Be sure to check it out.

Quality and quantity – with Robert Jon and The Wreck you are assured of both in prolific abundance.
