Review by Paul Monkhouse for MPM

Having proved themselves one of the most fiery bands in Europe on their recent jaunt with KK’s Priest and Paul Di’Anno, Swiss quintet Burning Witches are back with this barnstorming take on the Ozzy Osbourne classic.

Upping the ante and stamping their own authority here, there’s a hard as nails toughness that brings an extra edge to the song, Laura Guldemond’s whisky-soaked vocals giving it a feral power while keeping the central melodic core true.

With its scorching solo by Larrisa Ernst, this has all the sparkle of 80’s Sunset Strip but with its dark and grimy underbelly showing. Turn it up loud, punch the air and sing until you lose your voice, this is another triumph for the Swiss Valkyries.

BURNING WITCHES are:
Laura Guldemond – Vocals
Romana Kalkuhl – Guitars
Courtney Cox – Guitars
Larissa Ernst – Guitars
Jeanine Grob – Bass
Lala Frischknecht – Drums
