Review by Paul Monkhouse for MPM

Tapping into something that blends the boogie of ZZ Top, the groove of QOTSA and the heavy duty riffs and hellacious roar of Clutch, High Desert Queen have carved themselves a canyon deep niche in modern American rock music.

With jackhammer blows and a sludgy weight, ‘Ancient Aliens’ is stamped with a blue collar authority that would fit in with huge festival crowds and packed clubs, its power impossible to miss.

Built around Rusty Miller’s bone crunching guitar sound and the lived-in vocals of Ryan Garney, this new single from the band hits all the right spots, the wrecking ball rhythm section of Phil Hook and Morgan Miller slamming the point home.

With its video paying homage to John Carpenter’s cult classic ‘They Live’, this is one band who know how to have fun while they rock out. Destined to be one of you new favourite bands, High Desert Queen demand to be heard.
