Review by Paul Monkhouse for MPM
Reunited with vocalist John Corabi, the ever shifting and twisting Daisies are back with a bang on this punchy hard rocker that has all the rock ‘n’ roll swagger you could ever wish for.
Opening with a AC/DC style riff and groove, this could be Angus and Co’s dirty distant cousin as we’re thrown into a barroom boogie that is soaked with whiskey and bad intentions.
Following the earth-shattering soulful bellow of Mr Hughes, it’s great to see Corabi return and the band getting further down and grimy than ever before, the shift in focus proving the outfit aren’t afraid to keep growing as different elements bring new and strange alchemy.
The whole thing moves like a freight train as longtime lead guitarist Doug Aldrich tears things up with his solo and pushes the riot to its climatic, incendiary end.
A dozen years down the line and these particular Daisies show absolutely no inclination to wilt, their roots growing deeper as they emerge stronger than ever. This rocks.
