Greta Van Fleet stormed into Milwaukee’s Fiserv Forum, bringing a potent dose of retro rock that left the crowd breathless. Comprised of Josh Kiszka (vocals), Jake Kiszka (guitar), Sam Kiszka (bass), and Danny Wagner (drums), the band has become a sensation for their uncanny ability to channel the sounds of Led Zeppelin, Cream, and other rock titans of the 70s.

Greta Van Fleet formed in 2012 in Frankenmuth, Michigan. Their early Eps, “From the Fires” and “Black Smoke Rising” launched their careers, garnering a buzz in the industry for their Led Zeppelin-esque sound. Josh Kiszka’s vocals bear and undeniable similarity to Robert Plant. Their debut album, “Anthem of the Peaceful Army,” sky-rocketed them into the mainstream, earning them a Grammy Award along the way for Best Rock Album in 2019

The excitement grew at the Fiserv Forum as the opening acts wrapped up their sets. The crowd was a mix of all ages that had come together by a love of classic rock. The arena buzzed with anticipation as the lights dimmed. The curtain dropped, revealing all four band members standing side by side behind the drum kit. As Josh Kiszka belted out a long, high note, Wagner moved into position behind the drum kit. With that, Greta Van Fleet launched into “The Falling Sky” complete with a harmonica solo from Josh and fire canons going off across the entire back of the stage.

As the night progressed, Josh Kiszka’s charisma was evident. Interacting with the crowd between songs and channeling the swagger of rock legends while singing, his performance was phenomenal. He hit every high note with power and precision.

Jake Kiska’s guitar work was just as impressive, playing intricate solos that gave a hat tip to his influences, while showcasing his own exceptional talent. Not to be outdone, the rhythm section of Sam Kiszka’s pulsating bass lines and Danny Wagner’s pounding drums kept a rhythm that had everyone on their feet dancing along.

The band tore through an incredible setlist, playing songs from their studio albums including fantastic versions of older favorites. Songs like “Meeting the Master”, “Heat Above”, and an extended version of “Highway Tune” where Josh Kiszka got the crowd singing along while he did a shot of Fireball in their honor.

The highlight of the night came as the three brothers moved to a small stage in the back of the arena for a three-song acoustic set.

The crowd lit up the arena with their phones as they played a haunting cover of “Unchained Melody”. Everyone sang along again as quickly jumped into “Waited All Your Life”.

To close out the acoustic portion of the night, Greta Van Fleet brought the crowd back to their feet with their massive hit “Black Smoke Rising”.

The stage production throughout the night was nothing short of amazing. The lights bathed the stage in a kaleidoscope of colors, pulsating with the intensity of the music. Explosions of pyrotechnics during the heavier songs only added to the already electrifying atmosphere.
