Review by Paul Monkhouse for MPM
While two warring Mancunian brothers allegedly put aside their differences for a massive payday, there’s been an announcement of a reunion we all truly wanted to see.
Linkin Park are back. Years of soul searching following the passing of Chester, the band have emerged from their hiatus and launch not just this new single on the world but a forthcoming album and live dates this month.
The Emptiness Machine’ gives everyone the first chance to experience the outfit’s new line-up as they welcome vocalist Emily Armstrong from Dead Sara into the ranks, along with new drummer Colin Brittain who’s replaced Rob Bourdon following his standing down from the band.
A thrilling return, it’s not just the name being back on the scene that’s causing the excitement, as hearing Mike Shinoda’s vocals up front with his old friends is enough to send shivers down spines.
Things kick off when it reaches the chorus and it’s no stopping from there onwards, Armstrong putting her all in and tearing it up, flipping from sweetness and gut-wrenching power in the same style that Chester conquered and made his own.
With new album ‘From Zero’ quickly heading into view it’s time to celebrate and if it’s all as good as this absolute raging monster we’re in for a treat.
