London’s hardcore punk band CHAOS REIGNS have shared a raw and frantic music video for their latest single ‘Violent Delights’, showcasing the atom-splitting energy of their live shows.

The track is the third to be taken from their highly anticipated new EP, Sweet Violence, a record that tackles some of the darkest and most raw aspects of the human experience.

Due for release on 30th November, the EP confronts themes of love, death, murder, obsession, greed, mental health, suicide, and addiction, offering a brutally honest reflection on the fine line between pain and pleasure, life and death.

On the new single, vocalist Jason Heightman comments:
“‘Violent Delights’ captures Chaos Reigns at our most rambunctious. It not only ramps up our angular push and pull rhythms but our genre blending as well—jumping from surf rock to bossa nova, all whilst subverting the usual expectations of hardcore and metal.

The unpredictable nature of this track sets the perfect backdrop for a story steeped in alcohol, blurred lights, and late nights. With its bold, high-energy and bipolar feel, ‘Violent Delights’ proves we are anything but a traditional hardcore band.”

With over 1,500 monthly listeners on Spotify, 20,000 YouTube views for ‘Graveyard Shift’ and 15,000 for ‘Sins of Success’, CHAOS REIGNS continue to expand their sonic reach with Sweet Violence, blending their trademark aggression with meticulous production, capturing the band at their most visceral.

They’ve crafted their sound alongside studio legends Jason Wilson and Charlie Wilson (Stakeout Studios) and most recently Oz Craggs (Hidden Track Studios).

The upcoming EP features a guest spot from MalloryKnox‘s Mikey Chapman, and promises to be an unrelenting auditory onslaught. “Working with Oz allowed us to push our sound further than ever before,” says Heightman. “His ability to translate our raw energy into something that hits hard but remains refined was crucial to bringing the intensity of Sweet Violence to life.”

Sweet Violence is a collection of tracks that is both chaotic and calculated, capturing the tension between the beauty and brutality of existence.

Exploring the human psyche at its most vulnerable and highlighting the fragile balance between self-destruction and survival, Heightman explains: “We wanted to create something that cuts deep, that explores the contradictions of life – where love can turn to obsession, and where the things that drive us can also destroy us. Sweet Violence is a reflection of the world we live in – where the boundary between pain and pleasure, life and death, is razor-thin.”

Drawing influence from the distinctly more frantic end of the hardcore spectrum, CHAOS REIGNS are less focused on achieving a ‘brutal’ sound, and more so on eschewing genre cliches and tropes. “What I love about the more chaotic side of hardcore and mathcore is that anything goes”, shares bassist BillyPadmore

The bands really try to keep the listener guessing, even if by doing something as simple as adding one extra beat to a repeated phrase. This is something we were aiming for, and we’ve already seen people in the crowd paying more attention and getting thrown off guard by some of our ‘weirder’ moments”.

Upcoming Tour Dates:

06.12.24 – Moor Beer Vaults, London (EP Release Show)
25.01.25 – The Black Heart, London (w/ State of You)
05.02.25 – Signature Brew Haggerston, London

CHAOS REIGNS burst back onto the heavy music scene in 2022, detonating sonic chaos that leaves no room for the faint-hearted. Influenced by powerhouses like Converge, Every Time I Die, and The Dillinger Escape Plan, their music is an intricate, volatile blend of angular rhythms and jarring riffs that challenge conventions.

Known for their electrifying live performances, CHAOS REIGNS have shared stages with heavyweights like HarmsWayTheArmedLoatheOceanGroveDeathGoals, and RxptrsBBC Radio One‘s Alyx Holcombe even dubbed them “proper moshers,” a testament to the band’s energy and crowd-stirring chaos.
