Stepping out and blowing the cobwebs of a quiet festive season, it was time to back into the swing of things and hit the first show of 2025. Tonight, returning to Belfast after playing a support slot at last year’s Country 2 Country festival, Louisiana duo, Brothers Osborne bring their headline show to the city’s iconic Ulster Hall.

First up though, Tyler Braden on his first visit to Belfast took to the stage, with his rugged vocals, heartfelt lyrics, and undeniable stage presence.

After a couple of opening belters to warm the crowd up, he slowed slowed things down with a song inspired by The Fray’s How to Save A Life. Call Me First was the only real change in pace and that was somewhat short-lived and the set continued with short snippets of 500 Miles (The Proclaimers) & (You’re The) Devil in Disguise (Elvis).

Closing the set with his latest single, Devil In Disguise, Braden delivered a performance that set the tone for superb evening of country rock.

After a quick turnaround the Brothers Osborne and band were quickly on stage and wasted no time ripping into Skeletons, title track from their 2022 album release. T.J. Osborne’s deep, resonant baritone-like vocal was even more impressive live than on the record.

While brother John Osborne’s guitar chops were undeniably masterful, certainly one of the best I have seen performing in this genre. There was plenty of interaction between the duo, and of course with the audience who had turned up to sing and dance the night away to their hits.

With songs spanning from their 2014 self-titled EP to their 2024 Break Mine EP and every album in between, there really was something for everyone included in the setlist. Highlights included Nobody’s Nobody, John Osborne’s solo in Shoot Me Straight was also nothing short of superb, and was a testament to where a live experience absolutely trumps an album recording, giving the audience something memorable to take away with them. As the set momentarily slowed for Break Mine quite a few couples in the sold out crowd began dancing with each other making the night even more memorable.

Brothers Osborne delivered a concert experience that was as heartfelt as it was electrifying. Their ability to balance raucous, high-energy anthems with deeply emotional ballads speaks volumes to their versatility as artists and performers.

For their fans this was a night to remember. They didn’t just perform—they invited the audience into their world, creating a shared experience full of joy, heartbreak, and everything in between. If you ever have the chance to see them live, don’t hesitate. It’s a ride worth taking.

Brothers Osborne tour continues with a Jan 21st & 22nd at the O2 Academy Glasgow, then on to O2 City Hall in Newcastle Upon Tyne on 23rd January. Check out their website & socials for further details.
