Review by Phil Rozier for MPM

Massive Wagons.  They hold a special place in my heart.  Uplifting, inspiring, relatable.  Kinda pop rock, which goes against my thrash metal roots, but, I can’t help but love their infectious anarchic attitude.  Their live shows are something of legend.

The crowd is a happy go lucky fuck you crowd.  Happy to be amongst fellow pop rockers, but, at the same time, all have an axe to grind against some form of traumatic past it would feel.

‘Let me fucking hear ya!’ shouts Baz during the encore of ‘Ratio’.  I was doing the photo shoot at Shepherds Bush Empire (one of my first).  So with nerves running high, the lens cap still on, and a few more mistakes later, I’d completely forgotten about the troubles of life, as I was rocking out with another 2000 folk who just wanted a place to unwind.

Massive Wagons provide my favourite modern rock band fun night out.  It’s pure party rock.  Influenced by pain, but delivering peace, every song is a belter.

And they’re latest work is nothing but more of the same.  ‘Everywhere We Go’ is the Lancashire groups next crowd pleaser.  ‘Everywhere… we… goooo!!’ You can already tell the crowd will be bouncing and singing whilst Baz just keeps it going, giving it large on stage.  With that familiar Massive Wagons one two beat of the drum, a solid pace, with comforting Status Quo style riffs and sound.

With the additional news that the band are embarking on a UK tour in April 2026, and off the back of 2025’s Lancs Hall gigs (live album to also follow) the band are flat out busy pleasing us rock fans on the daily.

Bring on everything they ever do.  They’re awesome.
