Renowned guitarist Chris Buck, along with Tom Hollister & Adam Roberts – Cardinal Black – announce their signing to Thirty Tigers, ahead of a what’s going to be a huge year for the band.
Debut US headline tour also announced, as well as a live & studio version of their track ‘Holding My Breath’. Watch / listen here – https://orcd.co/holdingmybreath
If patience is a virtue, then Cardinal Black are masters of the art. Today, the band take their first step in gearing up for a monumental year to mark their return: signing to Thirty Tigers and announcing a debut US headline tour with both a live & studio version of their track ‘Holding My Breath’ – out now.
With sheer melody at its heart, ‘Holding My Breath’ is as laid-back & soulful as it is explosive – with vocals soaring and guitars bursting into life. ‘Can I ever move on, break these bonds we’ve created, admit that we’ve been faking all along…’ A couple who have reached a painful precipice. The sparkle in her is all but gone, but he’s not ready to admit the inevitable. He questions how long she has felt this way; can he do anything to fix the situation or will they only ever be papering over the cracks? How long is he supposed to wait… how long can he hold his breath?
Having cemented themselves as live powerhouses, the Welsh trio – Tom Hollister, Chris Buck and Adam Roberts – have embarked on over 100 tour dates across Europe, the UK, and the US. Proving their worth, they have sold out London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire, The Troubadour in L.A. & Basement East in Nashville, as well as performing at Cardiff Castle and a UK tour with Peter Frampton, which included a career-defining, sold-out performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
The band have also signed to WME USA for bookings, and will return to the U.S. in August to headline 14 dates across North America, including what will be a special return to The Troubadour. Full dates below and tickets go on sale HERE – this Friday, February 21st @ 4.00pm GMT / 10.00am CST
The road to success has been anything but conventional. Their story began in 2010 when they were tipped by Steve Winwood, who invited them to record at his own Wincraft Studios. A triumphant Sonisphere set led to the offer of a U.S. record deal and a collaboration with Guns N’ Roses manager Alan Niven. Reality didn’t match expectations, and the band went their separate ways before ever releasing an album.
In the decade that followed, their paths diverged but never truly separated. Buck’s distinctive guitar playing earned him numerous accolades and praise from some of the most distinguished players in Slash, Joe Satriani & Jason Isbell. The band remained close, reuniting sporadically to play together until, in February 2020, they decided to reform.
Nearly two years of writing, recording and rehearsing provided solid foundations, and within 24 hours of their debut single, ‘Tell Me How It Feels’, being released in May 2021, it toppled Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds from the top of the iTunes and Amazon Rock Charts. Both their first EP and subsequent debut album also reached #1, and the band soon found themselves recording in Abbey Road’s legendary Studio Two.
Cardinal Black may have taken the scenic route, but they have well and truly arrived—bringing with them a wealth of stories & electrifying performances. The trio continue to prove that sometimes, the wait is well and truly worth it.
