Combining thrilling contemporary metal with microphone-melting rap, Austin TX based Fire From The Gods’ latest album, “Sound Revolution Deluxe: The Collabs”, is sure to heat up the metal scene upon release at the end of this month.

Fresh, impactful and experimental, Fire From The Gods continue to delight by pushing boundaries and defying expectations. It’s been a while since I’ve heard something this unique, but at the same time, what stands out the most is how well the band have mixed genres and influences from around the world to create something not just different, but incredibly pleasing to the ear as well.

The album begins with 4 tracks that all feature other artists. Title track “Soul Revolution (ft. Young Mosh)” opens the album perfectly and gives listeners a taste of what’s to come.

This song flicks between sections of heavy metal, rap and rock, and right when you’re getting comfy, the
track changes direction and keeps you questioning how the song is getting even better every time.

Track two, “SOS (Ft. Nate Vickers)” and track three “Thousand Lifetimes (Ft. Corey Glover)” once again show how comfortable this band is with experimentation and how well they can fuse styles and genres perfectly. It’s an understatement to say that the musicianship is good- it’s incredible, and to top it all off, the production and mastering on this album is audibly flawless.

After the first 4 songs featuring guest artists (the last one being “Double Edged Sword (Ft. Jayden Panesso)”, the band seems to flourish even further in terms of experimentalism.

The album is well structured, frequently changing between songs that are more metal focused, to those that are more rap focused, and often bringing in influences from around the world, from 90’s American rap to songs with influences from reggae and R&B music like “The Message” and “Rapture (Fool Dem)”.

Throughout the album, because of the complex genre blending and the sheer quality of the sound, it feels incredibly authentic, unique, and polished. You get the sense that each song was run through quality control hundreds of times before it was finished, making it such an all round great experience for the listener.

If you’re a fan of Bad Omens, Spirit Box, Currents and Picturesque, but are looking for something that pushes those boundaries a little further, then this album from Fire From The Gods will be perfect for you. It’s clear to see that the band have a great respect and appreciation of all the music that has come before, which allows them to use these structures to create something entirely new.

However, this album is not only so fresh because of the lyricism, musicality and style, but the ultra- modern production too which just makes this masterpiece so crystal clear and holds it in this golden frame that showcases the albums greatness.

Overall, the passion, fire, energy and time that has been put into this album make it an absolute rush for the listener, and one that you’ll want to feel over and over again. I for one loved “Soul Revolution Deluxe: The Collabs”, and would recommend to anyone who is looking for their metal to bring something a little different to the table.

“Soul Revolution Deluxe: The Collabs” is out on the 31st of May, 2024
