TK Maxx presents Bedford Summer Sessions welcomed Canadian pop-rock sensation Avril Lavigne to Bedford Park.
As the sun shone on the picturesque park, UK chart-toppers The Lottery Winners and US alt-pop starlet Phem delighted concert goers throughout the day.
Highlights included:
- A formidable pop-star in the making, phem set the tone for the day as soon as she bounced on stage to her emphatic rock sound. Performing ‘american beauty’ and ‘stfu’ from her 2021 album ‘how u stop hating urself (pt.1.5)’, regaled Bedford Park with stories from her time touring with Avril Lavigne last year.
- Greater Manchester’s finest The Lottery Winners couldn’t contain their excitement to be performing at Bedford Summer Session with Avril Lavigne. They were particularly fascinated by the event’s real-time BSL interpreter even before they started their set. The band opened with ‘Worthy’ and followed up with a heartfelt introduction by vocalist Thomas Rylance, leading the crowd into an incredible sing-along during their special cover of Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.
- Appearing atop of a pink speaker stack in a custom bedazzled leather jacket, Canadian pop-rock icon Avril Lavigne opened her highly-anticipated set with ‘Girlfriend ‘and continued to dazzle the crowd with an incredible set-list featuring ‘Complicated’, ‘Bite Me’ and crowd-favourite ‘Sk8er Boi’.
- Treating Bedford fans to a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, audience members joined Avril Lavigne onstage for an outstanding cover of Blink-182’s ‘All The Small Things’ before finishing act iii in style with ballad ‘I’m With You’.
