Review & Photography by Paul Verner for MPM

t’s a busy Friday night for gigs in Belfast with shows gong on in various venues across the city. After selling out Limelight 2 last time they visited the city, Punk Rock Factory were moved in to the larger Limelight 1 venue promising rock n roll shenanigans galore.

First up tonight, from Derry/Londonderry 3-piece Parker treated those who had turned up on time to a mix of songs from their catalogue, including 2024 single Generic Indie Bands.

However, as the start of the show was delayed slightly their set seemed to cut their set time down to four songs, but it was just enough time to impress those who had made it into the venue.

Wolves of Glendale were up next and they lined up across the front of the stage in their boiler suits – complete with monogramed names.

The comedy 3-piece from California delivered a humorous set of original songs filed with satirical, and some times ludicrous takes on modern life.

The humour was equally matched by their unquestionable musical talent, it wasn’t hard to see why Punk RockFactory were keen to tour with them.

The crowd never really new what was coming next, but the set list was mostly centred around songs from their self titled 2024 album. Highlights included I Barf, Ricky, Olivia and Vapin’ In Vegas. They closed out with 80’s inspired The Gym.

Punk Rock Factory

Hailing from South Wales, Punk Rock Factory take to the stage with a rapturous applause of appreciation, many of the crowd knew what to expect, as they had managed to catch them last time around.

Proud of their cover band label, they mix the night up well with rocked up versions of of Disney favourites from Moana, Frozen and Aladdin. Movie & TV themes from Mamma Mia Phineas & Fern, Power Rangers and even music from adverts like Toys R Us and Milky Way.

Throughout the night they were keen to promote the release of their upcoming album which has a 90’s Smash Hits theme and included 1st single off that album; a cover of 1998 song C’est La Vie (B*witched), of course with a Punk Rock Factory twist on it.

If you are looking for a rock n roll show that doesn’t take itself too seriously, has plenty of humour and some tunes that will bring back childhood memories, do yourself a favour – go see Punk rock Factory.

Punk Rock Factory continue their Stick To The Covers tour on 5th October in the Academy Dublin, 6th October Cypress Avenue, Cork, then back to the UK for string of dates across October/November.
