A rock band out of a factory section of Stamford, CT by way of NYC. The Fifth Estate often played 5 or 6 hours a night, 6 nights a week, for months at a time.
They rocked harder and heavier than most bands of the 60s. This did them no great service due to the AM Radio pop required of the day. So on a bet at a NYC party they jokingly did “Ding Dong The Witch is Dead”. It was a huge hit around the world.
This and 3 other hits moved them on to huge concert around the country. Live they were ahead of things in the 60s and as Tomorrow Is My Turn could show you they already played what would become the thing in the 70s and again in the 90s and then and now again with bands like Oasis in the 2020s.
They stayed all these years doing what they do. Sometimes underground. Sometimes above ground. And now they will release a timeless album called THEN and NOW of all new tunes and a few covers. With the great guitar player and Grammy Winning producer Paul Nelson (Johnny Winter) on it, you can hear all that again. Starting with the first single “Hold You Closer”.
