Texas traditional heavy metal warriors MYTH CARVER have struck steel with the release of their debut EP Twist of Fate, out now digitally via the band.

MYTH CARVER channels the raw energy and passion of ’80s heavy metal with a uniquely Texas-bred ferocity. Self-proclaimed flagbearers of NWOTXHM (New Wave of Texas Heavy Metal), the band’s twin-guitar harmonies, thunderous rhythm section, and soaring vocals offer a masterclass in time-honored trad metal with a modern edge. Their sound evokes the clash of steel on steel, the roar of battlefields, and the might of legendary warriors standing against the tides of fate.
“We experimented a little on this EP, adding new flavors to our core sound: more speed, aggression, and melody,” says guitarist and co-founder Tom Reyes. “Each track brings a different flavor to the table we’re thrilled with how it came out. I’m really proud of my team for pulling off this release all in-house. Got a lot of talent on deck, and I think it shows on this EP.”
Founded in 2020 by guitarists Tom Reyes (I AM) and Jayson Braffett (FrostKoffin), MYTH CARVER began as a passion project fueled by a deep appreciation for old-school metal. The search for a vocalist ended in May 2022 when North Texas producer Daniel Schmuck (PowerTrip, FrozenSoul, CreepingDeath) stepped up to the mic, proving to be the final piece of the puzzle. With bassist Andrew Messer (Fugitive, ANS) and drummer Steven Rodriguez (FrostKoffin) solidifying the lineup, MYTH CARVER emerged as a full-fledged sonic powerhouse, ready to lead their charge onto the battlefield of old-school heavy metal.
Striking just as the molten steel cooled in early 2024, the band released their debut single “King of the Pyre,” before leveling up with “Crimson Terrain,” which featured then-bassist Chris Whetzel (PowerTrip), session work from KingDiamond drummer Matt Thompson, and was mixed/mastered by Arthur Rizk (PowerTrip, UntoOthers).
Recorded, mixed and mastered by the band, the four tracks of Twist of Fate wield the power of an enchanted blade, cutting through the noise of contemporaries with fearless precision. With album art handled by the illustrious Will Mecca (Chat Pile, Baring Teeth), Twist of Fate is a true labor of love—forged in fire and tempered in the heat of battle.
MYTH CARVER is set to make their live debut later this month at Hell’s Heroes Festival in Houston, Texas, and will make an appearance at Legions of Metal Festival in Chicago later this year.
