Review by Rob Broom for MPM

Arguably Volbeat are now Denmarks greatest export. They have steadily built their profile around the world over the last two decades or so and released some absolutely top quality rock/metal albums such as ‘Outlaw Gentlemen and Shady Ladies’ which combines classic fist pumping metal and the best of punk rock.

It’s a brilliant combination which transfers perfectly to the live arena where they have risen from clubs to much larger venues.

With the arrival of March 2025 we get the announcement for a new tour, new studio album ‘God Of Angels Trust’ (G.O.A.T for shirt and due in  June) and a first single (with accompanying video) from the album called ‘By A Monsters Hand’.

The song starts with the near trademark Volbeat sound of guitar riffs and pounding drums and bass which should instantly get the hands in the air and clapping along in the live arena.

Lead singer (and guitar slinger) Michael Poulsen delivers a characteristic vocal performance that’s a mix of grit and harmony and blends perfectly with the pumping music.

The accompanying video gives a good idea of the songs lyrical content. It’s about a serial killer and body parts! The character playing the killer is ordinary looking but manages to be suitably creepy and sinister, although perhaps it’s all just his imagination. I will let you decide.

There is no messing about with this new Volbeat release. ‘By A Monsters Hand’ is bang on classic Volbeat with all the gigantic riffs and momentous beat.

It is an excellent taster for the rest of the new album. Bring on June, the new album, (there is a range of different options you can order) and the tour! In the meantime, play the song very loud!
