Interview by Paul Monkhouse for MPM
Sometimes, beauty comes from ashes. Sephine Llo knows this only too well, the devastating heartbreak of losing her husband inspiring her incandescent and incredibly moving ‘Diamon Falls’ album.
A mix of ethereal folk, prog and Kate Bush style inventiveness, the release is never maudlin but something that instead informs and entertains in equal measure, the sonic textures and heartfelt lyrics managing to bring in both introspection and universal themes in a deeply personal way.
An extraordinary musician who’s a multi-instrumentalist and composer, there’s a real spark here that has actually been enhanced by the catharsis that the latest album brings the artist and there’s a sense that the scars are still there, the happy memories are an even stronger presence in her life.
Looking forward whilst very much aware of the past, we catch up with her as we look at the road she’s been travelling and what lays ahead.
